Grain Valley, LS North grab first wins

It didn’t come easily but the Grain Valley football team and new coach David Allie have their first victory.
The Eagles held on to defeat host Grandview 28-23 Friday night in the first meeting between the teams.
"It was much needed," Allie said of the victory. "It was a total team effort. The team played the whole game with passion and focus."
Zack Ehlen rushed 15 and 16 yards for touchdowns and caught a 68-yard pass from Kellen Holland for another to lead the Eagles. Holland also passed 12 yards to Evan Velasquez for the other Eagle touchdown.
Ehlen finished with 105 yards on 17 carries and caught two passes for 70 yards. Holland was 7 of 14 for 98 yards. Blake Lacey added 40 rushing yards on nine tries.
Velasquez also kicked two extra points and Ehlen ran for a two-point conversion.
The Eagles had 242 yards of total offense.

North rallied from an 18-7 deficit to swat the host Hornets 40-25 Friday night for their first victory since defeating Ruskin 37-6 last Sept 6.
Chase Swisher rushed 17 times for 94 yards and one touchdown and Chase Overton 10 times for 37 yards and two touchdowns to spark the Broncos (1-2).
Nate Webb completed 3 of 6 passes for 83 yards and one TD, Parker Tootle completed a two-yard TD pass and Laurel Heath caught two passes for 74 yards and one score to help boost the Broncos.
