The Blackhawks used their time management to its fullest potential to defeat the Marksmen, 21-12, in the first district game held Friday at Sherwood.

Adrian had control of the ball most of the game, despite the Sherwood defense's best efforts. The Marksmen line did stop Adrian in the first quarter on a fourth down at the 19-yard line, but the offense couldn't convert the possession into a touchdown, punting the ball away.

After forcing the Blackhawks to punt, Sherwood picked up a first down and took the ball to the 40-yard line. But on the fourth down, a fake punt play resulted in the loss of 13 yards, giving Adrian the ball on their own 27-yard line.

Just a few minutes later, in the start of the second quarter, the Blackhawks scored on a 2-yard run to lead 7-0. Sherwood had a good kickoff return from Brinton Clampitt and a 33-yard run by Logan Stewart to put the Marksmen in good field position on the 32-yard line. But on the next play, the ball was fumbled and the Blackhawks recovered it on the 36-yard line.
