The wait is over the PrepsKC McCarthy Elite team is here. The best 28 players in the Metro on the most exclusive team in the history of the Metro.
The announcements began Thursday with the specialists and continues with a position group a day until the team is complete. Then the offensive and defensive players of the year will be announced followed by the MVP as the top player on the team.
The third position group to be revealed is the offensive linemen. Four seniors and a junior lead the way with impressive performances that helped lead their teams to standout seasons.
Below are interviews with four of the linemen along with more information on their seasons.
Brock Heath – Sr., Blue Valley Northwest
First team All-EKL Offensive lineman who anchored the line for the Huskies as they advanced to the Kansas Class 6A quarterfinals losing to eventual champion Gardner-Edgerton. When talking to opposing coaches his name comes up first when discussing the Huskies in 2024.
Trevor Bindel – Sr., Liberty
The Jays won their first district title since 2006 and advanced to the Missouri Class 6 semifinals. Bindel led the way for an offensive line that made holes for standout running back Jaxon Hicks who rushed for 2,700 yards. Bindel finished with 65 pancakes and an overall 95% grade by his coaches.
Dom Bruce – Sr., Blue Springs South
The Jaguars went from 1-9 in 2023 to 8-3 in 2024 on the strength of a rushing attack that ran for 3,102 yards. Bruce finished with 51 pancakes with a grade of 85% anchoring a line that finished with 4,700 yards of total offense.
Stephen Carroll – Jr., St. Thomas Aquinas
Only returning starter for the Saints that finished with a second straight Kansas state championship. Team ran for 4,172 yards mostly on the ground behind Carroll who was the first freshman ever to start for legendary Aquinas coach Randy Dreiling.
Kaleb Moore – Sr., Gardner-Edgerton
Averaged two knock downs per game leading a line that finished with 5,000 yards rushing. Team scored 60 rushing TDs and five 2-point conversions on the ground. In the state championship game-winning drive the Trailblazers went behind Moore time and time again to score the winning TD with 10 seconds left on the clock.
