Lee’s Summit North traded scores with Nixa Friday night and found itself tied at 10 in the third quarter, but panic never settled in. The Broncos scored 24 points over the last quarter-and-a-half to end the Eagles season 24-10 and move on to the semifinals next week to face DeSmet.

Broncos quarterback Elijah Leonard helped lead the way, throwing two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. First, he completed a 10-yard strike to Zackary Coetzee with 11:24 left in the game. Then with 1:58 to play, he hit Isaiah Mozee for 19 yards.

North running back Tanner Howes ran for 53 yards on 10 attempts, while Mozee had two catches for 29 yards.

Friday night’s win was Lee’s Summit North’s eleventh in a row. The Broncos lost their first game of the season to Liberty North, also a state semifinalist and potential state championship opponent.

North (11-1) is making its second straight trip to the state semifinals after losing to eventual state champions Christian Brothers College last year.
