Lee’s Summit West rolled past cross-town rival Lee’s Summit (2-3) 38-0 on the road to improve to 2-3 on the season.  The Titans used a consistent rushing attack to gain a significant advantage in the first quarter.

The Tigers opened the game with possession but quickly faced fourth down after consecutive negative plays. The punt attempt was blocked and recovered by the Titans to set up favorable field position. Jackson Torry opened the drive with a 10-yard run that set up Quincy Torry for a one-yard touchdown run.

The following kickoff was an onside attempt that was recovered by Titans kicker Will Peacock. Quincy Torry got the call again and made a house call for 49 yards to give West a 14-0 lead.

The Tigers' offense continued to falter and was forced to punt again. West’s rushing attack went for 39 yards on the first three plays between Quincy and Jackson before David Mayo broke a 17-yard run to find the endzone, pushing the lead to 21-0.

Lee’s Summit picked up its first first down of the game late in the first quarter, but West’s Jonathan Kilpatrick recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown to close the first quarter with a 28-0 lead for the Titans.

West kept pouring it on in the second quarter as Mayo scored his second touchdown of the game. Trailing 35-0, the Tigers responded with a lengthy drive inside the Titan 10-yard line but failed to convert a fourth down try as the half came to a close.

The Titans tacked on a 24-yard field goal from Peacock to seal off the win in the third quarter.

Tigers quarterback Quin Martin completed eight passes on 17 attempts for 66 yards with an interception. Devin Andrews led all Tiger rushers with 70 yards on 22 carries. Joshua Manning hauled in four passes for 27 yards.

Drew Wolverton went 5-5 for 35 yards for West. Mayo led the trio of rushers with 73 yards on 10 carries while Jackson had 62 yards and Quincy had 70.

Lee’s Summit is scheduled to host Oak Park Friday. The Northmen are 5-0 to start the season and beat Platte County 47-19 in Week 5.

Lee’s Summit West is scheduled to face Blue Springs South on the road Friday. The Jaguars fell to 3-2 after losing to Grain Valley in Week 5.
