After starting the season 0-3, Blue Springs picked up its second consecutive win, beating Blue Valley 35-28 on the road Friday.

The Wildcats opened the game with a solid drive inside the Tigers' 20-yard line, but their field goal attempt was blocked. Blue Valley’s first drive had a promising start as Andre Davis picked up 12 yards on the ground, but a Trevor Brush pass was intercepted a few plays later.

Blue Springs’ following drive consisted only of runs as Donovan George led the way with six carries before taking his seventh into the endzone from three yards out.

The Wildcats' defense grabbed their second interception of the game, this time on the hands of Kevonte Jackson. With favorable field position in hand, the Wildcats wasted little time getting back into the endzone with Delonte Hunt scoring from 10 yards out to give Blue Springs a 14-0 lead after one quarter.

Blue Valley responded immediately to open the second quarter on a 52-yard run from John Price to cut the deficit in half at 14-7. Joe White took the following kickoff 75 yards to set the Wildcats up in Tiger territory. Donovan George added a quick 9-yard touchdown run to restore the two-score lead at 21-7.

Price and Lincoln Stueve opened the Tigers' drive with carries of 16 and 23 yards before Brush connected with Ben Dalke for 36 yards to set Blue Valley up at the Blue Springs 3-yard line. On the following play, Price got his second score of the game to pull the Tigers back within a score at 21-14.

Blue Valley got the ball back quickly and went to work to close the gap. After a couple of setbacks, the Tigers faced third-and-11 but Brush connected with Davis for 23 yards to extend the drive. The Tigers continued to whittle away and move the ball until Price got the call from the 3-yard line and got his third touchdown of the game. The extra point attempt was no good and the Wildcats led 21-20 going into halftime.

The Tigers opened the second half with possession but a quick interception from Brush shifted the momentum as the Wildcats went on to score on back-to-back drives with George scoring on a 2-yard run and Sal Caldarella connecting with Eli Youman for 41 yards, giving Blue Springs a 35-20 advantage.

Blue Valley attempted to make a comeback in the fourth quarter with Brush finding Davis for a 34-yard score and connecting with Thomas Herold on the two-point conversion but failed to get the ball back from the Wildcats before time expired.

Brush finished 12-26 for 210 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions. Price led all rushers with 165 yards on 21 carries with three scores. Davis led the Tigers receivers with 107 yards on five catches.

Caldarella completed four passes on seven attempts for 61 yards while rushing for 76 yards. George notched 20 carries for 81 yards with three scores. Hunt had 13 carries for 73 yards. Youman led the Wildcats' receivers with 50 yards on his two catches.
