Blue Valley 36, St. Thomas Aquinas 35
Greyson Holbert connected with Gatlin Samuel for touchdown, then Holbert ran in the do-or-die 2-point conversion in overtime to help the Tigers pick up a statement road win over the second-ranked team in Class 5A in the process.

On the first possession of overtime, Maxwell Ford completed a pass to Jeremiah Penney -- followed by Matt Seibolt’s PAT -- put the pressure on Blue Valley (3-1, 2-1 Eastern Kansas League), which opted to play for the win instead of another overtime in a game that had six lead changes and five ties.

Holbert ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 170 yards and two more. His 25-yard TD completion to Sterling Lockett with 5:42 left in the game tied the game at 28 and led to overtime.

For the Saints (2-2, 1-2), Ford led the team with 118 yards and a second touchdown.

Rockhurst 24, Bishop Miege 21
Despite scoring 21 points in six minutes in the second half to overcome a 17-0 deficit, the visiting Stags couldn’t hang on in the end against Missouri Class 6 traditional power Rockhurst.

Mac Armstrong completed two touchdowns passes, including one for 57 yards to Jaylen Burch and Burch also had a touchdown run to mount the Bishop Miege (1-3) comeback.

But Joe Leggio’s run from 1-yard out with 6:30 left reclaimed the lead for the Hawklets (2-3).

Blue Valley Southwest 28, Leavenworth 21
Dylan Dunn completed a 9-yard touchdown pass to Hank Phillips with 6:59 left in the fourth quarter, then Trey Thomas intercepted a pass to give the host Timberwolves the defensive stop they needed to win.

That touchdown gave Blue Valley Southwest (2-2) their only lead in a game that was tied three times before that as the Timberwolves countered every Leavenworth touchdown with one of their own.

Quarterback Eddie McLaughlin ran for two touchdowns and connected with Alexander Finn on a third for the Lions (2-2).

Perry-Lecompton 42, Bishop Ward 35
James Jarrett III scored three touchdowns for Bishop Ward, but the host Cyclones weren’t able to hold on after leading by 16 in the first half.

Meanwhile, Gunnar Ball accounted for all six Kaws touchdowns -- the most important his 24-yard pass to Kael Gorski that gave Perry-Lecompton the lead for good at 36-29 with 6:44 left.

Earlier in the fourth, Jarrett III had reclaimed the lead for Bishop Ward (1-3) at 29-28 for the first time since the Kaws tied it at 22 just before halftime.

Basehor-Linwood 57, Turner 6
The Class 4A No. 4 Bobcats spread the offensive production around while its defense and special teams scored repeatedly against the overmatched Golden Bears (1-3, 0-3 United Kansas Conference).

Basehor-Linwood (4-0, 3-0) scored on an interception, a fumble recovery and a blocked point. The Bobcats also added safety, allowing the offense to share the load: no player had more than one offensive touchdown, and both quarterbacks each passed for one.

For Turner, Ty Cole led all rushers with 130 yards and provided the Golden Bears their only touchdown.
