Rockhurst 24, Bishop Miege 21
Joe Leggio ran for 255 yards and all three touchdowns Rockhurst touchdowns and the Hawklets claimed an interstate win over Kansas Class 4A power Bishop Miege.

But it wasn’t easy as the visiting Stags (1-3), ranked No. 1 in Kansas 4A, overcame a 17-point deficit in the third quarter.

Bishop Miege scored 21 points in six minutes, taking their first and only lead, 21-17, when Jaylen Burch took Mac Armstrong’s pass 57 yards with 10:31 left.

But Leggio’s ran into the end zone from 1-yard out on Rockhurst’s next possession and the Hawklets (2-3) held on over the final 6:30 to win.

Raymore-Peculiar 17, Lee’s Summit West 14
Zander Dombrowski and Jaden Reddell teamed up twice for touchdowns to help the defending Class 6 champions snap a two-game losing streak.

Reddell took Dombroski completions 25 yards (second quarter, 7-7) and 70 yards (third quarter, 17-7) as Ray-Pec (3-2, 2-2 Suburban Gold) managed just enough offense to overcome three turnovers and hold on.

Jaden Hines ran for 115 yards while David Mayo scored a rushing touchdown for the visiting Titans (3-2, 2-2). Kaden Hile connected with Derrick Miller for a touchdown with two seconds left to decide the final margin.

Liberty 28, Blue Springs South 0
Tyler Lininger had two touchdown passes while Wentric Williams ran for two more as Liberty claimed the Suburban Gold Conference victory over the winless Jaguars.

All four touchdowns came in the first half for the host Blue Jays (3-2, 3-2).

Williams led all players with 256 yards rushing. Lininger completed 9 of his 13 passes for 126 yards.

Theodis Thomas accounts for a team-high 123 yards rushing for the Jaguars (0-5, 0-4).

Odessa 27, Pleasant Hill 24
Garrett Bayless scored the game-winning touchdown with 6:11 left in the game and the host Bulldogs won their 29th game in a row.

For the second consecutive week, Odessa faced a test unlike many they’d seen over the past three seasons as the Roosters (3-2, 1-2 Missouri River Valley Conference West) led early, then trailed by 13 later in the first half.

But the No. 1 team in Class 3 won behind Bayless’ timely running and 225 yards passing to go with Blake Heitman’s 157 yards on the ground and two TDs.

Easton Roe threw for two touchdowns and kicked a 26-yard field goal to give Pleasant Hill both of their leads, but they fell in a heartbreaker for the second week in a row.

Winnetonka 26, Ruskin 13
Touchdowns from four different players -- one in each quarter -- powered the host Griffins to another Suburban Blue Conference victory.

Johnell Essex’s 15-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter broke a 13-all tie and ended up being the game winner for Winnetonka (4-1, 3-0).

Essex had 102 yards for the Griffins, while quarterback Devin Sontag wnet 10 for 11 for 172 yards and a touchdown to Michael Lane (six receptions, 121 yards).

William Sanders, who led all rushers with 145 yards, had tied the game with 1:36 left in the first half with his 1-yard TD run and subsequent PAT.

Excelsior Springs 35, Harrisonville 26
In a showdown of workhorse running backs, Lukas Shelton rushed for 284 yards and four touchdowns to lead the visiting Tigers in a game that remained within one possession for much of the duration.

Jace Reynolds nearly matched him with 230 yards and two touchdowns -- including a whopping 19 yards per carry, but Harrissonville (3-2, 1-2 Missouri River Valley Conference West) could never take control, despite pulling to within two points four times.

Chance Moreland added 151 more yards rushing for Excelsior Springs (3-1, 1-1), which outgained the Wildcats 482-390.
