Rockhurst 21, Blue Springs South 7
Joe Leggio scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, helping visiting Rockhurst to do enough to claim their first win in a game that included a combined six turnovers.

Leggio led all players with 139 yards as the Hawklets (1-3) played their third road game of the season, which has included games at reigning Class 6 champs Raymore-Peculiar and Arkansas power Bentonville. Next week isn’t going to be any easier when they play host to Kansas 4A juggernaut Bishop Miege.

The Jaguars (0-4) trailed 21-0 into the fourth quarter before Cash Parker completed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Like Seib.

St. Pius X 14, Maryville 13
The Warriors blocked the game-tying PAT, then recovered the ensuing onsides kick with 33 seconds left to escape Maryville with a win.

Quarterback Jack Mosh had a hand in both St. Pius X touchdowns, and his 10-yard fourth quarter run -- plus Joey Wilson’s extra point -- ended up being enough for the Warriors (4-0, 2-0 Midland Empire), who are ranked fifth in the latest Class 3 Missouri Media Rankings.

Mosh connected with Robbie Sharp on a 14-yard TD pass in the second quarter to tie the game at seven.

Caden Stoecklein has given the Spoofhounds (1-3, 1-1) -- ranked 10th in Class 2 -- the lead midway though the first quarter.

Winnetonka 24, Grandview 20
Devin Sontag connected with Connor Lynch for a 21-yard touchdown with 9:56 left for the eventual game-winning score for the visiting Griffins.

That was Sontag’s third touchdown completion of the game as Winnetonka (3-1, 2-0 Suburban Blue) never trailed and surged to a 17-0 lead midway through the second quarter.

Grandview quarterback Chris Conner responded with a pair of touchdown passes, including a 49-yard completion to Zay’Vion Hueigh late in the third quarter, eventually cutting that lead to 17-12.

Shortly after Sontag’s TD pass to start the fourth quarter, Conner scored on a 24-yard run to close the gap to four points. But the Bulldogs (1-3, 0-2) couldn’t find the end zone again over the final six minutes.

Harrisonville 36, Warrensburg 27
Nate Reynolds ran for three touchdowns and passed for another, and the Wildcats defense made two late fourth-down stops to hold on and hand the host Tigers their first loss in a matchup of Top 10 teams in Class 4.

Warrensburg (3-1, 1-1 Missouri River Valley Conference West), ranked sixth, enjoyed the lead early, twice leading by 8 in the first quarter.

Joshua Pesek tied it at 14 less than three minutes into the second quarter with his 14-yard run followed by a successful conversion run by Carson Miller. A few minutes later, Reynolds’ 26-yard run gave Harrisonville (3-1, 1-1) the lead they would extend to 16 points, 30-14, in the third quarter.

But the Tigers responded by scoring on back-to-back drives to -- a run from Bryce Schoonover, then a second touchdown pass of the game from Luke Othic.

It was 30-27 when Warrensburg failed on fourth down with 5:55 left.

West Platte 39, Lawson 0
Emmett Sullivan ran for 146 yards and three touchdowns to lead visiting West Platte in what was just a 7-0 game at halftime but quickly turned into a rout in the second half.

Cameron Williams was credited with a pair of fumble recoveries that led to touchdowns in the third quarter, and the Bluejays (4-0, 2-0 KCI) held Lawson (0-4, 0-2) to just 45 yards from 36 offensive plays. They forced five turnovers in all.

Lawson has been shut out in each of its four games this season.
