Blue Valley 67, Lee’s Summit 36
Blue Valley put up 50 first-half points, making for an inhospitable visit across the state line for Lee’s Summit’s Tigers.

Greyson Holbert was involved in five touchdowns -- three passing and two rushing -- and finished with 215 yards through the air and 153 on the ground.

Michael Solomon ran for three touchdowns and 153 yards.

In all, Blue Valley (2-1) had 556 yards of offense, averaging more than eight yards per play.

Despite the deficit on the scoreboard, Lee’s Summit (1-3) wasn’t far behind, averaging seven-plus yards per play and finishing with 459 total, even without factoring in Malachi Shaw’s 99-yard kickoff return.

Mill Valley 41, Shawnee Mission East 10
Hayden Jay threw for 318 yards and four first-half touchdowns to lead the visiting Jaguars (3-0, 3-0 Sunflower League), ranked No. 2 in Class 5A.

Three of Jay’s passes occurred in Mill Valley’s 27-point second quarter. Jared Napoli scored on receptions of 59 yarda and 48 yards, and his 145 yards of offense was the game high.

Reice Kennedy ran for two touchdowns, including an 87-yarder for the Jaguars.

Despite being held scoreless on offense until the final minute, quarterback Parker Leise and the Lancers (1-2, 1-2) were able to move the ball, accounting for 317 yards of offense. But they were undone in part by four turnovers in the loss.

Blue Valley West 38, St. James Academy 6
Gage Roach ran for one touchdown and connected with Jack Schneider and Andrew Coltharp on two others -- all in the second half -- as the host Jaguars blew open what had been a 7-6 game at halftime.

Malcolm Russell’s two field goals (from 33 and 30 yards) had kept the Thunder (0-3, 0-3 Eastern Kansas League) in the game through the first half as Sage Huffman’s 32-yard run was all BV West (2-1, 2-1)  could muster.

But Schneider took Roach’s first TD pass 69 yards, then Coltharp went 44 yards on Roach’s next completion to help put the game out of reach.

Blue Valley North 40, Blue Valley Southwest 28
Henry Martin threw five touchdown passes and the undefeated Mustangs got a late score to seal their Eastern Kansas League victory.

BV North (3-0, 3-0), ranked No. 3 in Class 6A, survived four turnovers in a game in which it never trailed and led 33-7 at halftime.

Dylan Dunn completed three touchdown passes for the Timberwolves (1-2, 1-2), including two as Southwest scored 21 unanswered to pull within 5 in the final minutes of the game.
