The Park Hill offense was hitting on all cylinders as the Trojans rolled to a 66-35 win over Lee's Summit on Friday night at Park Hill District Stadium.
The offensive assault was largely aerial as senior quarterback Billy Maples threw for 367 yards and 8 touchdowns in the first half alone.
The Tigers fought back to within three scores late in the third quarter, but that's as close as they could get and Park Hill improved to 2-0 ahead of their rivalry game with Park Hill South (1-1) next week.
Maples threw for the first three scores of the game as the Trojans built a big first-quarter lead.
The Tigers got on the board with a TD pass of their own from Darrias Pearsall to Victor Hochstetler, but Park Hill answered that score just
37 seconds later on a 60-yard TD bomb from Maples to DJ Johnson and the hosts led 28-7 after the first.
After two more scoring strikes from Maples to Ronnie Bell and another to Johnson the margin stretched to 42 points and at the half it was a
56-21 Park Hill lead.
Back-to-back touchdowns by the Tigers made it a 21-point game with
2:45 to play in the third, but Park Hill closed the contest with 10 unanswered points cruising to the victory.
"We're always trying to find something to work on to try and get better," Park Hill head coach Josh Hood said. "These are great wins against outstanding opponents. Any win in this conference and on this schedule is a huge win for us. We're excited about the effort that the kids put in to go out there and take care of business tonight."
Lee's Summit falls to 0-2 on the season and will travel to Fort Osage next week.
