The PrepsKC McCarthy Elite Team was completed Wednesday with the announcement of the quarterback and running backs. The 28 players on the team were selected by the staff of PrepsKC and was announced over the last week.

Once the team was decided the staff of PrepsKC and the 10-coach board of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association voted on the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year. Every player was eligible for the individual award and after the vote the two players were decided.

One more honor is coming as the PrepsKC McCarthy Elite Team Most Valuable Player will be chosen from the two players of the year.

Offensive Player of the Year
Quarterback
Rocco Marriott – Jr., Platte County
Simply one of the best seasons by a quarterback in the Metro in recent history. Marriott led the Pirates to a perfect 14-0 record ending with the Missouri Class 5 state championship. He finished the year with 3,084 yards passing, completed 67 percent of his passes for 39 touchdowns and only six interceptions. He was also a force on the ground with 622 yards on 92 carries while scoring another 19 TDs for 58 total TDs on the year.

Defensive Player of the Year
Linebacker
Jayden Woods – Sr., Mill Valley
He started his career as an edge rusher but moved to his natural position for his senior year. He finished his senior season with 90 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 5 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback hurries, one interception and one forced fumble and was named the Sunflower League Defensive Player of the Year.
