Take a look back at Week 7

Welcome to Five From Friday our weekly feature that highlights some of the best quotes, notes, stats and performances of the games Friday night.

Quote of the night
“It's so nice to achieve what we have up to this point. We know the legacy and what it means to play football here. The senior class might have been small but that instilled so much grit and toughness in the younger guys.” – Pleasant Hill senior quarterback Sawyer Richcreek after the Roosters 42-21 win over Odessa. It was Pleasant Hill’s fourth straight win after starting the season 1-2.

Stat line of the night
Robert Palmer, Grain Valley – The senior tailback had another big night with 18 carries for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the Eagles’ 57-22 win over Belton. That brings his season total to 1,281 and 15 TDs in seven games.

Highlight of the night
St. Thomas Aquinas had never beaten Rockhurst. They had played eight times dating back to the 1990s. The series started back up a few years ago and the Hawklets kept winning including a 45-44 overtime win last season when the Saints led by three scores at halftime. This year the game went to overtime again. Aquinas scored first and converted the extra point and the Rockhurst got the ball in the end zone on their possession. All that was needed to extend the game was a clean extra point but that’s not what happened. The snap was bad and the Hawklets couldn’t convert and Aquinas brought home a 14-13 overtime win. Spectrum News Kevin Wike was on the call.

Aquinas' Historic Win

Team of the night
Olathe Northwest – The Ravens beat Olathe North 27-26 for their first win over North since 2011 and just the third time in the 21-year history of the program.

Big Winner (s)
Piper – The Pirates had a rough start to the season under first-year coach Cole Orrick. Big losses to Topeka Seaman, Basehor-Linwood and DeSoto but had come close with one score losses to Spring Hill and Leavenworth. Friday The Pirates broke through with a big 47-28 win over Lansing giving Orrick his first win as Pirates head coach.
