Stat line of the night
Rocco Marriott, quarterback, Platte County – The junior had a big night in the Pirates’ 52-21 win over Grain Valley. He finished with 235 yards passing with five TDs to go along with another 65 yards rushing and another TD on the ground.

Highlight of the night
Washington was trailing Sumner 20-8 in the second quarter when sophomore Cam’Ron Fields had a three minutes that changed the game. Here let Wildcats coach Camron Smith tell you what happened. Fields finished the game with 129 yards, three rushing touchdowns and a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Team of the night
St. James Academy – The Thunder beat Bishop Miege 44-28 to open its season after the Stags ended their 2023 season with a tough playoff loss. St. James ended a three-game losing streak to Miege dating back to 2022.

Big Winner (s)
KIPP Legacy – the Gators beat University Academy 12-8 to move to 2-0 on the season matching last year’s win total. Last year the Gryphons beat KIPP 48-20. In just its second season as a varsity program KIPP could be set up for a big year.
