In one of the RE/MAX Big 3 games, Basehor-Linwood, dominated in all phases of the game, as they shut out Leavenworth 42-0.
Leavenworth fumbled the opening kickoff, Bobcats, Cole Hofer, recovered the miscue. Two plays later Nick Doering, scored from seven yards out. The conversion was, no good, as the snap
rolled on the ground, messing up the timing of the kick.
On the next possession, Bobcats linebacker, Jacob Sharp intercepted a pass, giving his squad, another short field. Doering, took another inside handoff and scored again. This time from 3 yards out. Colin Zimbelman converted the kick, and the Bobcats led 13-0.
The Bobcats special teams scored the next points. Nate Martin, came up the middle, and blocked the punt, Caelum Theno, pounced on the loose ball in the end zone, for the score. Zimbelman, converted the kick. The teams went to the locker rooms, with the Bobcats on top 20-0.
Doering, got his third rushing touchdown, from 18 yards out, this time. When Leavenworth jumped offsides on the conversion, the Bobcats went for two. Doering took a handoff, and fought his way into the end zone, for the score.
Theno, scored his second touchdown, from 3 yards out. After taking the handoff, Theno was hit in the backfield, but kept his legs churning and refused to be stopped. Zimbelman again, converted the kick.
The final Bobcats score was a perfectly executed fade pattern, to the back corner of the end zone. Carson Dixon laid the pass up perfectly, for Nash Morrison, who drug his toes, to complete the 7-yard touchdown.
After the game Doering, gave credit to his offensive line,
“I couldn’t thank my OLine enough. I walked in, the touchdown untouched”.
Basehor-Linwood will travel to Piper next week. Leavenworth will be home next week, as they host Lansing.
