Complete Box Score and Stats

On a night where offenses default to finding success on the ground, the Blue Valley West Jaguars did just that and then some.

Thanks to the quarterback play of Zach Darche, West tallied three passing touchdowns and 191 passing yards in a 28-14 victory over the Olathe North Eagles in a wet and rainy 6A regional title game Friday night at CBAC.

Darche and the Jaguars’ passing attack did just enough on a rainy Friday evening, completing 6 of 7 passes for 191 yards and three touchdowns.

Most of the damage came in the second half, as West led 7-0 at the break, courtesy of a Darche 45-yard connection to running back Sage Huffman, who finished with 19 carries on 85 yards and a score.

Darche connected with Jack Schneider for two touchdowns in the third quarter — 28 and 16 yards, respectively — and Olathe North’s TJ Porter rushed for a 47-yard touchdown run just ahead of the fourth quarter, which saw Huffman’s second score — a 3-yard rush — and a 6-yard touchdown run by Olathe North’s Jason Scoma.

Porter had a big night for the Eagles, tallying 208 rushing yards on 34 carries. Olathe North finished the season 8-2.

For Blue Valley West, Huffman rushed for 85 yards on 19 rushes and caught one pass for 45 yards. Crew Myers hauled in two catches for 79 yards. Jack Schneider caught two passes for 44 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jaguars improved to 5-5 on the season and next Friday will face Gardner-Edgerton, which defeated Blue Valley Northwest, 28-19.
