The Kansas City Chiefs have announced their Coach of the Week honors. The awards go to Center Coach Bryan DeLong (Missouri) and Spring Hill Coach Jason Feeback (Kansas).

As a result of this honor, both schools will receive a $500 player health and safety grant from the Hunt Family Foundation. Additionally, both coaches will be presented congratulatory footballs autographed by Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid and a certificate recognizing their selection. Both coaches are now qualified for the Eric Driskell Coach of the Year Award, which will be voted on later this fall. The Eric Driskell Coach of the Year Award is selected by a panel comprised of the Missouri and Kansas Boards from the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association.

Spring Hill defeated DeSoto 28-14 to move to 5-0 on the season. It is the first 5-0 start by the Broncos since 1990 and they are currently ranked No. 5 in Kansas Class 5A. Feeback said this award is for everyone involved with Spring Hill Football.

“Thank you to the Kansas City Chiefs for this award,” Feeback “We humbly accept this award on behalf of our outstanding coaches and the Spring Hill High School community. Most importantly, this award represents our players that continue to LEVEL UP every day. Without their commitment and hard work, none of this would be possible.”

Center beat Harrisonville 56-6 to move to 4-1 on the season. The win over the Wildcats was the Yellowjackets first in more than two decades. DeLong said this honor is a result of the hard work of everyone involved with the program.

“The Yellowjacket football family is truly blessed to not only be honored by such a prestigious organization as the Kansas City Chiefs but to have such quality individuals pulling together to make every week special for our young men,” DeLong said. “Starting with our player’s parents and our very supportive administration complimented by our dedicated assistant coaches there is no better place to be than Center High School getting to be involved with this great game.

“We are so excited to get to spend some time with Gary Spani this week and hear from him and his extensive football background and learn from his experiences.  It truly is a great day to be a Yellowjacket.”

In its 25th season, the 2021 High School Coach of the Week is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. This program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance on a weekly basis while honoring individuals who are shaping today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
