Gardner-Edgerton trailed Shawnee Mission Northwest 38-35 in the closing minute of the game and faced a fourth down in field goal range. The Trailblazers opted to go for it and get the win but the defense of the Cougars had other ideas holding out for the win. SportsRadio 810’s Tim Spoerl was on the call.

Team of the night

Liberty North – After starting the season with an open week and then losing to Liberty and Ray-Pec the Eagles have done nothing but get better. North has won five straight with the latest victim being Lee’s Summit West who fell 22-15 to the Eagles after leading in the first half. It’s the third straight second-half comeback win for Liberty North.

Big Winner

Lexington – The Minutemen have quietly rolled through its season seven straight wins and then faced Missouri River Valley Conference East rival Lafayette County Friday night. Lexington was up to the challenge earning a solid 36-25 to move to 8-0 and set up a conference title showdown game with 6-1 Richmond.
