Football is finally back.

The North Kansas City District Schools; Staley, North Kansas City, Oak Park and Winnetonka got together for their first action of 2019 as part of the district’s Jamboree at NKC District Stadium on Friday night.

The live scrimmages not only allowed each team to get a look at a variety of opposing offensive and defensive schemes, but also provided some underclassmen as well as first-year starters with their first taste of varsity competition.

Both North Kansas City and Staley posted 9-win seasons a year ago, with the Falcons reaching the quarterfinals in Class 5, and will look to build on that success in 2019.

Oak Park also finished last season on a high note with two of their four wins coming in the last three weeks of 2018.

The season officially starts next Friday and all four teams will be in action. Winnetonka hosts St. Joseph Benton, while Staley welcomes Truman to their home turf. Oak Park and North KC will both hit the road as the Northmen travel to Platte County and the Hornets head to Grandview.
