Quote of the night
“It’s a pretty unique experience (being on defense). The past few years I’ve been playing tailback. But playing defensive line is different but I love it.” – Fort Osage defensive lineman Isiah Iloilo after making a big impact for the Indians during their 56-7 win over Truman.

Stat line of the night
Billy Maples, quarterback, Park Hill – The senior had a night to remember tossing nine touchdown passes in the Trojans 66-35 win over Lee’s Summit. Maples finished the night 23 of 36 for 434 yards. Eight of his TDs came in the first half which tied a national record. His nine TDs set a new record for the state of Missouri.

Call of the night
Liberty opened its new stadium and the stars shined all night as the Jays beat Belton 43-17 led by a big night tailback Roberty Rawie.

Team of the night
Raytown – The Bluejays held off Liberty North 28-27 to move to 2-0 on the season. It’s the first time in more than 13 years Raytown has started the season 2-0. The Bluejays look to add to their streak with a home game Friday against Grain Valley.

Big Winner
Excelsior Springs – The Tigers shutout Cameron 41-0 and are off to an impressive 2-0 start. It’s been a long time since Excelsior Springs has been around the top levels of Class 4 football but this could be the start of a special season for the Tigers.
