Blue Valley West hosted Blue Valley Southwest Thursday night to open the Kansas season. Davis didn’t waste any time taking the second play from scrimmage 79-yards to the end zone to give West the early lead. Davis had a big night with three TDs and 135 yards in West’s 20-17 win.

Team of the night
Shawnee Mission West  –  The Vikings answered every score by Lawrence Free State to earn a 41-40 win. These teams gave fans a great opening night and a preview of what could be very good seasons for both programs.

Big Winner

The Fans –High school football is finally in full swing on both sides of the state line. Combine perfect weather with some great games and it was a week to remember. Kansas kicked it off right with two great games that went down to the wire. Blue Valley edged Bishop Miege 35-28 in a back and forth battle while Shawnee Mission West outlasted Lawrence Free State 41-40 in an instant classic.
