It’s that time again let’s take a look at the RE/MAX Big 3 Games of the Week. Let’s start in Missouri where Oak Park is hosting Fort Osage in a battle of 2-2 teams. The Northmen welcome an Indians squad that is playing some of its best football of the season. Fort Osage has won two of its last three games and are coming off a dominant 41-19 win over Truman. The Indians face an Oak Park team that has been consistent in its inconsistency. The Northman won in Week one and three and lost in weeks 2 and 4. Oak Park hopes the trend continues and it can continue its 15-game home winning streak.
Our next RE/MAX Big 3 game is Blue Springs at Lee’s Summit North. The Wildcats hit the road with a 3-1 mark fresh off a big win over Staley. Blue Springs is much improved this season, but the Broncos will be the biggest test of the season so far. North has been good all season winning every game by at least 2 scores including a 39-24 win over perennial Arkansas power Bentonville. This is a prove it game for Blue Springs and a contest that the Broncos need to focus on as this is the beginning of a stretch of the toughest games of North’s schedule.
The final RE/MAX Big 3 game is Rockhurst at Bishop Miege in a battle of Catholic rivals. The Hawklets cross the state line with a perfect 4-0 record with solid two-score or more wins in each of their four victories. Rockhurst comes in as the more successful of the two schools this season as Miege is still looking for its first win. Even though the stags have yet to taste victory their losses have been close to teams that are strong contenders in the EKL. This is always a good game, and this year should be no different.
Let’s take a look at the Kansas RE/MAX Big 3 Games. We start at Basehor-Linwood where the Bobcats host United Kansas Conference rival DeSoto. The Wildcats head northwest to with three wins to open the season but are facing their toughest competition to date. DeSoto’s offense has been rolling scoring at least 46 points a game including two of the three wins in the 50s. The Bobcats’ defense has been impressive as well allowing just 14 points in the first two games before winning a shootout with a talented Shawnee Heights team 42-35. Both teams are talented and well coached, and this could be the first of 2 meetings of the season.
The Next RE/MAX Big 3 Game is Shawnee Mission East at Olathe North in a Sunflower League battle. The Lancers are playing their best football of the season as they head to Olathe. East bounced back from a season-opening loss to Lawrence Free State with wins over Topeka Seaman where the offense put up 35 points in each of the wins. They face a North squad that grabbed its first win of the season last week 42-34 over Lawrence. Both teams like to run and are physical so this should be a tough game for both squads.
Our final RE/MAX Big 3 game is St. James Academy at Blue Valley. The Thunder hit the road trying to stop a two-game losing streak. St. James opened the year with a win over Bishop Miege before falling to St. Thomas Aquinas and Blue Valley Northwest. The loss to Northwest was a field goal at the buzzer so the Thunder could easily be 2-1. They face a Tigers team that is coming off its first loss of the year. Blue Valley’s defense had been outstanding the first two weeks but couldn’t slow down Aquinas’ rushing attack. St. James will come at the Tigers more through the air, but it will be a challenge either way. This is yet another great game in the EKL that could be a rematch in the postseason.
