Drexel scratches out win over Sherwood
By Stephanie Yeagle The Cass County Democrat-Missourian
All it takes is a couple of big plays to win a football game. Just ask the Drexel team, who ran past Sherwood, 33-14, Friday.
“We gave up big plays and that really hurt us tonight,” Sherwood head coach Jim Gurney said. “We knew coming in that Drexel was a big play team and we knew they were capable of that. The defense did a good job most of the night holding them down, but we gave up a couple of big plays and it ended up hurting us.”
One of those big plays happened in the beginning of the first quarter as quarterback Blake Seba slipped through the Marksmen defense for a 38-yard touchdown at the 10:48 minute mark.
Later in the quarter, the Bobcats scored again, this time on a 2-yard run by Keifer Shipley to take a 13-0 lead.
