Park Hill South sends Belton home with a loss
By Allen Edmonds Cass County Democrat-Missourian
The Mark Thomas era at Belton High School began with a jolt Friday night, as the Pirates fell 30-0 to Park Hill South at Park Hill District Stadium.
Thomas, who resurrected programs at Kearney and Jefferson City before taking over the Belton program this past spring, watched his squad hold the high-powered Panthers scoreless through the first quarter before PHS quarterback Eddie Sola put his team on the board twice in before halftime with scoring passes.
Sola began the second half with a touchdown run from midfield, and moments later, Belton junior quarterback Thomas Clary threw an interception that was returned for a fourth Panther score just after the half.
