Benton’s 1-2 punch of Dontae White and Colby Bradford pounded the Central (Kansas City) defense over and over Friday night, leading the Cardinals to an dominating 40-2 win at Sparks Field.

The Cardinals racked up 189 yards rushing and tallied four scores on the ground despite playing their top backs for only the first two quarters against overmatched Central.

“The line came out and blocked great, and we just executed on the holes that they created,” White said.

From his fullback spot, Bradford started the Cardinals’ opening drive with three straight runs before quarterback Trevor Peters finished the drive with a 20-yard strike to Lucas Powers for a touchdown.

White entered the game on the second series, punishing the Central defense with physical running between the tackles.

“When I touched the ball tonight, my only thought was to make big plays and run hard,” White said.

White took the first snap of the second quarter for 50 yards, moving Benton inside the Central 20.
