The season is over, and a few schools are in the market for a new coach.

The first to open was Lawrence Free State as Bob Lisher announced his retirement after his team’s loss to Manhattan in the Kansas Class 6A quarterfinals. On the Missouri side Allen Supplee stepped down at Kansas City Central shortly after the season.

The newest school in search of a head coach is Blue Springs South. Jon Oyler announced that he is stepping down after three years at South to spend more time with his family. He informed his team Friday afternoon.

Oyler took over for Greg Oder after he retired following the 2015 season. During that year Oyler was the defensive coordinator for the team that went 14-0 and won the Missouri Class 6 state championship.

The Jaguars finished last season 3-8 but one of those wins was a first-round playoff win over Troy Buchanan. South was the only No. 7 seed in the state of Missouri to win a first round playoff game. The season before the Jaguars finished 5-7 but two of those wins were on the road in the playoffs as South was seeded No. 5 and knocked off the No. 4 and 1 seeds before falling to rival Blue Springs in the district championship game.
