Maryville junior Tate Oglesby had quite the game against Chillicothe on Friday.

The dual-threat athlete helped the Spoofhounds to a 38-7 victory over the Hornets at the ’Hound Pound. Oglesby recorded stats on offense, defense and special teams.

“We had a lot of game plan,” Oglesby said. “We knew what we needed to do and come out and win.”

Oglesby’s most impressive showing came on offense. He split time at quarterback with junior Tyler Haer throughout the game. Oglesby also had showings as a wide receiver.

He recorded a touchdown in each position, while also grabbing an interception early in the first quarter on defense.

His performance, alongside three touchdowns from Tyler Houchin, helped overshadow the absence of senior Eli Dowis, sophomore Ben Walker and sophomore Connor Weiss.

“We’ve got a really good team bond right now,” Maryville coach Matt Webb said. It’s a next man mentality, and if we want to accomplish our goals, if we’re going to win a district championship, it’s going to take the entire team.”

Chillicothe (4-7) struggled to get anything going throughout the game and did not find itself inside Maryville’s 30 yard-line until the fourth quarter.

It struggled to contain the Spoofhounds (11-1) run game, with four touchdowns coming from over 20 yards out. Three of them were recorded on the ground.
