Monday night at Rockhurst High School the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association held its annual College Night. This has long been a chance for college coaches one-stop shopping to talk to coaches and find out about the rising seniors who will take the field this fall.

It is always well attended with coaches from FCS, D-II, D-III, NAIA and junior colleges all packed into the gym at Rockhurst wanting to talk to the GKCFCA members.

Colleges from North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee attended the event. Hundreds of thousands of dollars of scholarships will be provided for our student athletes from the colleges that attend every year knowing that the Kansas City area is a great place for their staffs to recruit.

This year saw some new schools like Abilene Christian Minnesota State attend. In all their were 45 programs that came to the event

GKCFCA President Sam Knopik said this event again continues to grow and improve.

“College coaches from not only our MO-KAN region but also Illinois and Upper Mid-West states are figuring out that a few hours spent in Kansas City can be a profitable experience for their recruiting efforts,” Knopik said. “Our college night might be one of the largest in the region and from the notes we share at the national level we know our event is on par with other metro association's efforts as well. Student-athletes are well taken care of by their coaches in Kansas City. The participation by our high school staffs is strong and the recruiters appreciate the ability to visit face-to-face.”
