Quote of the night
“Last year, we beat Mill Valley and lost to them in sub-state. You just never know. We’ll probably see (St. James) in playoffs. They’re a really good team.” – St. Thomas Aquinas quarterback Will Swanson after Aquinas beat previously undefeated St. James Academy 34-14.

Stat line of the night
Caleb Krell, tailback, Grain Valley – The Eagles ball carrier was key in his team’s 27-12 win over Excelsior Springs. Krell finished the game with 23 carries accounting for 152 yards and three touchdowns.

Call of the night
Wins have been hard to come by for Lee’s Summit but this past week the Tigers got a good win over Raymore-Peculiar 21-7. One of those touchdowns was a long run by Samaj Brewer. 810 varsity had the call.

Team of the night
Staley – The Falcons turned a highly anticipated game between two highly ranked teams into a laugher with the 42-0 win over Kearney. Staley scored early and often in a game that was over in about a quarter and a half.

Big Winner
Blue Valley Northwest – The Huskies were down by two scores twice to Gardner-Edgerton on Thursday night but Northwest never quit. The Huskies scored the last three touchdowns of the game including a score with 1:02 left on the clock to get the 35-28 win.
