When you get that sprain in Friday night’s game or Thursday’s soccer contest it’s not always convenient to find a sports medicine clinic that stays open late on a Friday or is there when you need them on Saturday morning.

The Overland Park Location of the Sports Medicine and Performance Center at the University of Kansas Health System will be doing just that starting this week. The center begins extended hours Sept. 29 and 30. Going forward it will be open on Friday evening from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The clinic is located at 1-435 and Nall and will be treating some basic injuries like sprains, strains, joint injuries and bone fractures. This extended time is for all athletes from the high school quarterback to the weekend warrior to the club league soccer player.

“We are excited to offer extended hours for orthopedic sports injuries on Friday night and Saturday morning,” University of Kansas Health System Vice President of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Charles Rozanski said. “Whether you are a high school athlete with a sore knee or a weekend warrior who rolled their ankle playing tennis, our team of professionals at the Sports Medicine and Performance Center are available to evaluate your sprain or strain with no appointment needed during our walk-in hours.”

The clinic is located in Overland Park at I-435 and Nall Avenue on the Indian Creek Campus of The University of Kansas Health System at 10730 Nall Avenue, Suite 200, Overland Park, KS 66211.
