Jackson Likens kicked a 27-yard field goal into the wind with 15 seconds left in the game to give the Tigers their second win of the season.

Blue Valley cut BV North’s lead to 33-31 after Luke Bernard’s touchdown pass to Blake Brown with 1:06 left in the game. The Tigers then recovered the onside kick and had the ball at their own 45-yard line with 1:03 left and no timeouts before the game-winning drive.

Blue Valley took a 3-0 lead into the second quarter on Likens’s 24-yard field goal. BV North scored the next three touchdowns to take a 19-3 halftime lead.

The Tigers pulled to within 19-17 after three quarters on Bernard’s touchdown passes to Cameron Green and Brown. After another Mustangs touchdown, Bernard hit Alex Totta for a score with 5:25 left in the game. But BV North (1-2) came right back with a touchdown at the 3:02 mark, setting up Blue Valley’s comeback.

Later in the first, quarterback Bryce Mohl scored on a 29-yard touchdown run before he hit Connor Strouse on a 32-yard touchdown pass. Mohl made it 28-0 in the second quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run.

The Wildcats ended the scoring in the third quarter on a 40-yard touchdown run by Trevor Watts and a 1-yard touchdown run by Leo Oplotnik.
