Welcome to Five From Friday our weekly feature that highlights some of the best quotes, notes, stats and performances of the games Friday night. Each weekend PrepsKC will post a Five From Friday looking back on the night that was.

Quote of the night

“The only thing I was trying to do was hurry up and get off the ball and hurry up and get there to make the play,” Platte County defensive end Michael Smith said after his sack of Harrisonville Quarterback Ryan Byrd on the final play of the game sealed a 20-12 win for Platte County.

Stat line of the night

Robert Rawie, running back/cornerback, Liberty – The senior ran the ball 31 times for 285 yards and four TDs while also playing 71 snaps on defense to help lead Liberty to a 55-35 win over Raytown.

Call of the night

Will Swanson scored an easy TD to give St. Thomas Aquinas a 13-7 first quarter lead it would never give up in a 28-14 win over Blue Valley North.

Team of the night

Olathe East – The Hawks lost a tough 22-21 game in week one to Hutchinson and then found itself down 12-0 early to rival Olathe North. All the Hawks did at that point was outscore the Eagles 29-0 from that point and earn their first win of the season.

Big Winner

Park Hill – The Trojans took on a tough physical team in Blue Springs and matched that physicality with speed in a 28-25 win. It was easily the biggest regular season win for Park Hill since it moved to Class 6 and likely makes them the No. 1 team in the state when the rankings are released.
