Turner travelled to Bonner Springs to kick off the season. The Braves of Bonner Springs rolled the Golden Bears 56 - 0. The Braves started the scoring when Kaleb Hightower connected on two field goals of 25 and 26 yards.

Braves, Caden Henley returned a punt 55 yards to set up the next score. Quarterback Noah Villarreal found Henley in end zone for a 27-yard score. Bryce Krone took a direct snap and ran in the two-point conversion.

Less than four minutes later Villarreal hooked up for a 10-yard score to Jamison Jackson. Later in the first half Villarreal threw his third touchdown pass of the game, 15 yards again to Henley.

Just before the halftime, the Braves forced the Bears to punt and Henley returned the punt 32 yards for a touchdown. The Braves went to the break up 35 - 0.

The Braves continued their offensive juggernaut when Alonzo Hokes took a “jet sweep” and went for a 48-yard score.

Dalton Blakemore scored on a 1-yard run, and Coleton Oakes ended the scoring on a 49 yard touchdown pass to Drelyn Carroll. Hightower was perfect going 6 for 6 on PAT’s.

Braves head coach Chad Eaddy, broke down his team’s victory after the game starting with his defense.

“We have some hard-working guys who get after the ball. I like the effort,” Eaddy said.

Eaddy then spoke of his punt returner Caden Henley fielding a punt like a shortstop.”

He is the shortstop for our baseball team,” Eaddy said. “He has great field speed, great vision and he sets his blocks up really well, and you saw that tonight.”

Eaddy spoke of his quarterback play.

“We on settled on a quarterback, this week,” Eaddy said. “We have several guys who can step in and play, which is a great thing. We started Noah (Villarreal), but the other two both scored one on a run and the other on a pass.”

Bonner Springs will travel to DeSoto next week. Turner will be home to host Washington.
