The first day of fall practice is hear and Missouri teams across the Metro hit the field to move ever closer to games.

While there has been 20 days of practice over the summer, with some of those days completed just eight days ago it was back to square one as the heat acclimation rules take effect to start the opening of practice.

With those rules day one is more of a running and no contact that felt like a late September mid season practice instead of the last day of July.

Blue Springs played all the way until the final game of the year in 2017 and bring a strong group back this season.

Blue Springs coach Kelly Donohoe was pleased with his team’s offseason and the first day of practice.

“It’s funny this just feels like an extension of the summer except you have to take your pads off,” Donohoe said. “It’s been a really good summer. The majority of our guys have been 100 percent guys all summer of our 20 contact days. I’m really proud of what we accomplished this summer.

“We’ve got a good group. It’s an experienced group. We’ve had years like this where we bring about a lot of good experience so we should be a really good football team but you know there are a lot of really good football teams out there so you are always on edge. We just hope our seniors do a good job leading us.”
