The 2017 football season is fast approaching and the new stars of the fall will be taking center stage. Before those new players hit the field the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association will honor the seniors of 2017 with its annual Papa John’s Kansas vs. Missouri All Star Game.

The year’s game takes place 7 p.m. June 15 at Blue Springs South High School. The rosters are set with Basehor-Linwood coach Rod Stallbaumer leading Kansas and Center coach Bryan DeLong leading Missouri.

DeLong led Center to the Missouri Class 3 quarterfinals finishing with a 12-1 record. Along the way the Yellowjackets won the West Central Conference championship and a district title. DeLong said he is excited an honored to be chose to coach this year’s Missouri squad.

“Even being considered to be part of the GKCFCA All Star game is truly an honor for me as a Kansas City Metro football coach,” DeLong said. “When I think of the All-Star Game I think of true legends of this great game of ours, names like Rick Byers, Jim DeMarea, and Eric Driskell all come to mind.  When men like this come to mind, I am truly humbled to be part of this great tradition.”
