The Smithville Warriors were stung by the Chillicothe Hornets 14-7 on Friday in a Midland Empire Conference game at Jerry Litton Memorial Stadium.

The Warriors (6-2, 4-2 MEC) were trailing by the score of 6-0 deep in the third quarter until the offense struck for its first score in two weeks.

Senior running back Jake Boyd came back and crashed through the Hornets' (7-1, 5-1 MEC) defense for the touchdown run, taking a 7-6 lead with 1 minute, 58 seconds left in the third quarter.

The Hornets received the ball at the end of the third quarter and extended the drive into the fourth quarter.

Hornets senior quarterback Cade Snyder capped an 11-play, 72-yard scoring drive with a 9-yard touchdown run after rolling to his right and diving for the pylon and 14-7 lead.
