Blue Springs South bounces back big
By John Beaudoin The Blue Springs Journal
Blue Springs South is taking the “no lead is safe” mantra seriously these days.
A week after blowing a 28-6 third quarter advantage over rival Blue Springs, the Jaguars made sure to put enough points on the board to feel somewhat safe, outgunning the Columbia Rock Bridge Bruins 51-27 Friday night.
“Our kids really hung in there after a disappointing loss last week,” South head coach Greg Oder said. “That’s what it really came down to for us is that district-wise, we are still in this.”
Two of the four teams from the Class 6A district – which includes Blue Springs, Rock Bridge and Liberty – will move on to the postseason. South is now 1-1 and faces Liberty next week.
The second place winner of this district will likely face Rockhurst. If all the stars align, the Wildcats and Jaguars could see each other again in November.
