East Buchanan opened the season with a weather-shortened 42-0 win in three quarters over South Harrison in the battle of the Bulldogs.

The home Bulldogs were led by 123 yards rushing and three totals scores from senior Austin Potter to open the season 1-0.

It was all East Buchanan in the first half as the offense ran rampant over the South Harrison defense.

On South Harrison’s opening drive, junior wide receiver Kinser Corbett coughed up a pass from quarterback Cody Weller and East Buchanan’s Connor Foley pounced on it at his own 38-yard line.

The blue and gold then bullied their way down for a score with six straight running plays before Potter pounded out a five-yard run for the touchdown. The point-after attempt failed leaving East Buchanan up 6-0.

South Harrison’s offense faltered again on the second drive as East Buchanan forced a three-and-out. Weller was at the helm after two seniors — quarterback Stanton Blake and running back Mason Doll — left the team.

“They are no longer on our team, so they decided to not play no more. So we are moving on without them,” said South Harrison coach Mike Wilhelm, though he did not refer to either player specifically.

Weller did his part for the struggling South Harrison offense, which picked up 80 yards in the three quarters. He was 1-for-9 for 9 yards passing and rushed for 49 yards.
