This offseason continues to be one of the busiest of recent memories. Several state champion coaches announced their retirement or stepped down and now the latest news comes from Fort Osage.

Fresh off the first state championship in school history Ryan Schartz has stepped down to take over as the Activities Director at Fort Osage. Schartz is replacing current AD Brandon Hart who will take the same position at Grain Valley.

The move now means that two of the three state champions from the Metro on the Missouri side will have new coaches this fall. Blue Springs South’s Greg Oder retired after a 14-0 run to the Class 6 title and Schartz steps away after a 13-1 season that was capped off with a 63-28 win over Chaminade in the Class 5 title game.

“After spending 15 years as teacher, assistant coach, and head football coach in the Fort Osage School district I can't begin to express how excited I am to serve the district as the next Activities Director," Schartz said in a statement. "After working with the current AD for many years it is my hope to enhance the already great tradition that he helped to build. Go Indians.”
