Playoff heroes earn top honors

Starting with the first week of the season on both sides of the state line PrepsKC will announce a Papa John’s Player of the Week. Each week those players will be highlighted on and in their local Papa John’s location.

A player of the week will be awarded for all nine weeks of the regular season. At the end of the Kansas regular season a Papa John’s Player of the Year will be selected from the weekly winners. The year-end winners’ program will receive a $250 donation from Papa John’s and a pizza party for the entire team.

Below is this week’s Papa John’s Players of the Week

Christian Jegen, Mill Valley receiver

Jegen led his team to an easy 56-21 win over Pittsburg in the Kansas Class 5A quarterfinals. Jegen ran for four touchdowns and caught three more TD passes in the win.

Skylar Thompson, Fort Osage quarterback

The Indians quarterback did everything in his team's quarterfinal win over Park Hill. He ran for three touchdowns and threw for three more in the 42-10 victory over Park Hill.
