Bishop LeBlond defensive back Trey Hartman knew what was coming and he wasn’t having any part of it.

The senior recognized the Savannah offense’s formation and seized the opportunity to intercept Savages quarterback Blake McGinness to seal a 21-7 win for the Golden Eagles on Friday in front of a raucous crowd at Eagle Stadium.

Hartman’s larceny came with just 3 minutes, 28 seconds left to play and allowed an efficient LeBlond offense to drain the clock to snap a lengthy losing skid vs. the Savages. Savannah had won nine in a row vs. LeBlond, seven straight since the Eagles rejoined the MEC.

“We’ve been working that all week at practice,” Hartman said. “We know they like to do that — throw it up to that receiver — so we’ve been working that back side.

“We were prepared for it and I just went up, trusted my read and held onto it.”
