With 11 minutes and 12 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter North Platte quarterback Anthony Hernandez rolled to his left and found Jordan Hendricks all alone, wide open in the corner of the end zone.

The score once again gave the Panthers the lead and Plattsburg didn’t score again in a 26-13 come-from behind win Friday at North Platte High School.

“I looked at him,” Hernandez said of Hendricks. “I knew he was going to be open. That route was there the entire game. I looked at him. He was all by himself and it was an easy read.”

Coming off a pair of losses that could have been considered moral victories, North Platte completed the win to snap a 12-game KCI Conference losing streak by beating the Tigers.

North Platte (3-6, 1-6 KCI Conference) last won in KCI play with a 46-30 win against Mid-Buchanan for the Panthers only win of the 2014 season on Sept. 5, 2014. North Platte lost seven straight games to close the season — six in KCI play — before losing the first six KCI games this season after sweeping the non-conference slate for the first time since 2011.

“That one in the win column is a really big deal,” North Platte coach Josh Rodriguez said. “It’s nice to have in there. They’ve had a lot of confidence the last two weeks playing a couple of really good teams really close. They know what they are capable of and this is going to enhance that confidence.”

The win sets up a rematch between the two teams in the first round of Class 1 District 7 play which begins next week. North Platte earned the No. 4 seed in the district and will once again host fifth-seeded and defending district champions Plattsburg (2-7, 1-6 KCI).
