Big week for Fort Osage, Blue Valley

Starting with the first week of the season on both sides of the state line PrepsKC will announce a Papa John’s Player of the Week. Each week those players will be highlighted on and in their local Papa John’s location.

A player of the week will be awarded for all nine weeks of the regular season. At the end of the Kansas regular season a Papa John’s Player of the Year will be selected from the weekly winners. Each winner’s program will receive a $250 donation from Papa John’s and a pizza party for the entire team.

Colton McCumber, quarterback, Blue Valley

The Tigers signal caller had a big night rushing for 225 yards and two TDs while passing for another touchdown and 100 more yards in the Tigers 62-27 win over Shawnee Mission Northwest.


Matt Smith, receiver, Fort Osage

Smith grabbed 11 catches for 109 yards for two TDs and had a 63-yard kickoff return to set up another score to lead the Indians to a 28-14 win over Lee's Summit.
