Pirate's big night earns Player of the Week

Starting with the first week of the season on both sides of the state line PrepsKC will announce a Papa John’s Player of the Week. Each week those players will be highlighted on PrepsKC.com and in their local Papa John’s location.

A player of the week will be awarded for all nine weeks of the regular season. At the end of the Kansas regular season a Papa John’s Player of the Year will be selected from the weekly winners. Each winner’s program will receive a $250 donation from Papa John’s and a pizza party for the entire team.

Justin Mitchell, quarterback, Platte County 19 of 40 264 yards passing  3 TDs, 21 carries 137 yards rushing 1 TD

The Pirates signal caller helped to engineer a 41-24 come from behind win at St. Joseph Central. Platte County trailed 34-17 heading into the fourth quarter when Mitchell and the offense got going scoring four times to earn the win and move to 2-0 on the season.
