The Eagles won the toss and deferred to the second half, kicking the ball off to the Indians to open up the game. The opening kick-off was a touch back, St. Joseph Central starts on their own 20-yard line. The Indians could get nothing going against the Eagles defense. St. Joe Central was a quick three-and-out and a 48-yard punt put the Eagles on their own 33-yard line to start their first drive of the night.

It was the running game for the Eagles that powered their way to a quick 7-0 lead. Running back, Richard Richardson carried the ball four times for a total of 49-yards. Team mate, running back, Myquan Powell finished off the drive with 2 carries for 20-yards including the 15-yard scamper with KiAndre Pugh leading the way. Place kicker, Josh Crawford put the extra-point through the uprights to finish it off.

St. Joseph Central started their next drive and went another three-and-out, netting -1 yards. It looked as if the Indians were waking up on the next play, a 7-yard loss sack by Scott Keegan. But Richardson got the Eagles back on track with 2-runs of 14-yards & 4-yards. On the next play, QB, Mitchell Miller connected with teammate Johnny Buck on a 30-yard pass/catch TD. With the extra point, the Eagles took a 14-0 lead.

St. Joseph Central would get a decent return from Israel Smith on the ensuing kickoff. But, the defense of the Eagles stepped up again and forced another 3-and-out. On the punt, linebacker Blake Moore blocked the punt and Dakota Carr, linebacker, picked up the ball and ran in the blocked punt from 33-yards out, the extra point by Crawford, put the Eagles up 21-0.

Again St. Josephs, Israel Smith, had another good return on the kickoff to their own 34-yard line, a 32-yard return. But, once again, the Eagles forced the Indians to another 3-and-out. Richards of the Eagles took the punt to the Eagles 42-yard line for a 16-yard return. This time the Indians defense came through, starting off with a tackle for loss by Jacob Olson. Before the tackle, the Eagles picked up a big penalty, chop block, pushing them back to their own 27-yard line. The Eagles were able to put together two long runs, but still came up short. The Indians were able to get the ball back, but failed to earn their first 1st down of the game.

On the Eagles next drive, Richardson did almost all the work, running the ball three times for a total of 46-yards. Miller capped off the drive on a quarterback keeper from 8-yards out. The point after by Crawford, gave the Eagles a commanding 28-0 lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Crawford pooches the kick down the middle of the field and the ball was recovered by Roman Mendoza on the Indians 35-yard line. On the very next play, Richardson takes the hand-off to the right side and gets behind Pugh for another TD-run, the extra point by Crawford give the Eagles a huge 35-0 lead.

The Indians do get on the board on a 13-play, 4:36 drive, 69-yards. Jacob Hess and Cade Musser hooked up 3-times on the drive for 18-yards, capped off by a 22-yard reception by Keith Roderick, the extra-point was no good, but it did put the Indians on the board down, 35-6. Liberty North scored one more time before the half on a Myquan Powell 35-yard TD, run. The half time score was 42-6 Eagles.

In the second half, Israel Smith of St. Joseph Central scored their last TD on a 2-yard pass from Smith to Scott Keegan, the point after by Austin Jackson, gave the Indians 13-points on the day. St. Joseph Central’s Jacob Hess had 111 passing yards with a TD; Keith Roderick led all receivers with 5-receptions with 70-yards and a TD. Jacob Olson had 4-tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.

Liberty North defense was stellar tonight, allowing only 30-yards on the ground and scoring the blocked punt. Stephen Lehnardt had 3.5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss & 2.0 sacks on the night. All in all, the defense had 11 total tackles for loss. QB, Miller had 39-passing yards and a TD along with a rushing TD as well.
