In what some area prognosticators expected to be a match up between two of the three teams to watch in the Suburban Small Six Conference ended up as another decisive victory for the Kearney Bulldogs.

Kearney defeated the Platte County by a score of 38-0 to earn its second straight shut-out of the season, on the strength of two early turnovers.

Kearney looked good on their first possession as senior quarterback Shane Hartzler punched it in from one yard out to give Kearney the early lead. An interception of Platte County’s Krae Kelso pass then set up the next touchdown for the Bulldogs as senior running back Brandon Jackson ran it in for an 18 yard touchdown run, giving Kearney the 14-0 first quarter lead.

Jackson would score again early in the second quarter, and would finish the night as the team's leading rusher for the second straight game with 12 carries for 95 yards and two touchdowns.  Kearney would also add another touchdown by Ty Frakes, and a field goal by Alex Prewitt before halftime giving them a 31-0 lead.

In Kearney's first drive of the second half, Hartzler would add his second touchdown of the night giving them their final score of the evening.  Things won't get any easier for the Pirates.  They will have to face another conference opponent in Staley, which is coming off a big victory over Blue Springs.  The Bulldogs will step back out of the conference race with their first home game of the season against Ozark.
