The Olathe North football team has been having so much fun this year, The McCarthy Auto Group decided to get in on it.

The 3-0 Eagles hosted a pep rally at The McCarthy Auto Mall in Olathe before their showdown with Shawnee Mission South on Friday. Lauren McCarthy and 810 Sports Radio’s Nate Bukaty emceed the event that featured performances by the Olathe North drill team, cheerleader squad and the band.

Head coach Gene Wier and a few senior football players said a few words to the crowd of supporters while Bukaty and McCarthy gave away prizes to the students, including gift cards, music systems, tickets to local sporting events and a Samsung Galaxy tablet.

Wier said the rally was a fun way for the kids and the community to get excited for the remainder of the season.

“I’ve always had a lot of respect for McCarthy Auto Group because they’ve done things like this for the community for years. Hats off to them,” he said.

Lauren McCarthy was more than happy to host the first pep rally at the auto mall, but hopes it isn’t the last.

“This was a lot of fun and I hope we do it in the future. The football guys, the drill team, the cheerleaders all seemed to have a lot of fun,” she said.

Wier also announced that, after talking with former NFL coach and current ESPN analyst Jon Gruden, the Eagles would be a featured team during the broadcast of Monday Night Football.
