Lathrop ran past, over, and around East Buchanan 66 to 42. The Mules ran Coach Mike Thompson’s Wing-T offense to perfection. Each play started with the same formation, with two wingbacks, and before the snap one, would go in motion, and from that setup the Mules found the end zone repeatedly.

The Bulldogs scored the first two touchdowns of the game. The first was a 22-yard run by Ryan Kilgore. The pass for the conversion was incomplete.

The next score was a 26 yard strike from quarterback Eddie Kilgore to wide receiver Brent Schultz. The pass for conversion was good from Eddie Kilgore to Rowland Chase and the Bulldogs were up 14-0.

The Mules bounced right back. Wingback Robert Askern went in motion and took the handoff and on the jet-sweep and went 54 yards for the score. Grant Berg converted the kick.

On the Mules next offensive play Askern took another jet-sweep and this time he went 61 yards for the score. The kick was no good.

The Mules quick strike offense scored on their next offensive play Deryk Thompson threw a perfect play action pass to Askern for a 41 yard touchdown. Berg was true with the conversion.

The Bulldogs Austin Potter took the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for the score. The two point pass went from Colby Rapp to Chase Rowland, and the first quarter ended with the Bulldogs ahead 22-20.

The second quarter was dominated by the Mules as they scored the next three touchdowns. John Hartzell took a jet-sweep and scored from 1 yard out. The pass for conversion failed.

Thompson called his own number and scored on a quarterback sneak from 1 yard out. The kick failed.

The final score of the half was a 10-yard run by Caleb Myers. Berg made the kick and the teams went to the half with Lathrop on top 39-22.

The Mules went back to the air for their next score. Thompson went up top for 25 yard score to Michael Kelley. Berg converted the kick again.

Bulldog quarterback answered right back when Zac Johnson made a spectacular finger-tip grab on the sideline and tight roped the boundary for an 80 yard score. The two point pass failed.

The Bulldogs went right back to the air Kilgore hooked up with Brent Schultz for a 14 yard score. Ryan Kilgore ran in the two point conversion.

The Bulldogs struck again as Kilgore found Schultz from 33 yards out. The two point pass was no good, making the score 46-42 Mules.

The Mules ground game finished the game. Caleb Myers found the end zone from 3 yards out. The next Mules score was a 4th and goal from the 10, when Josh Hartzell found the corner of the end zone.

The final score was a West DeFries pick-six interception return from 30 yards out. Berg converted the final two conversions, and the final score 66-42.

The Lathrop Mules moved their record to 7-1 and they will be on the road next week travelling to Mid Buchanan. The Bulldogs lose their first game dropping to 7-1 and try to get back in the win column as they travel to Penny.
