Truman winless, Lee's Summit still perfect
By The Examiner staff
Victory No. 1 of the season continues to elude the Truman football team.
Marshall took an early 16-0 advantage and went on to hand the Patriots their seventh consecutive loss, a 31-0 setback Friday at Independence All-School Stadium/Norm James Field.
First-year coach Gregg Webb remained positive in the loss.
“We competed hard, and they are trying,” he said of his players. “I am proud of them. The kids we put out there are good kids. I told them the game is supposed to be fun and the score doesn’t indicate what you are doing as an individual.
“We gave them so many opportunities. Our defense didn’t play too badly. We didn’t play very well offensively.”
The Patriots meet winless William Chrisman next Friday in the Noland Road battle for the Wagon Wheel Trophy.
