Kansas has announced its football classifications for the 2014-15 two-year cycle. There are several changes that involve schools from the Metro.
Starting in 2014 Kansas will feature six classes of football. Class 6A and 5A will again be 32 teams while Class 4A will split into two divisions of 32 teams each. Class 3A will feature 64 teams while 1A-2A will have 40.
The range of each class is as follows:
  • 6A 1731-1015
  • 5A 1013-554
  • 4A Division I 550-330
  • 4A Division II 325-195
  • 3A 193-117
  • 1A-2A 117-60
The changes that involve Metro teams in 6A have Harmon and Blue Valley moving up. Leavenworth will drop to 5A. In 5A Bonner Springs moves back up after spending this current cycle in 4A. Also moving up is St. James Academy while Bishop Miege drops to 4A where it won a state title in 2009.
